Web Design tactics to help you when you're stuck by Matthew Inman
“Web design can be incredibly frustrating. You'd
think that with the infinite possibilities of what-goes-where it'd be
pretty easy to land a design that works, yet somehow we've all been stuck
before: working hour after hour on a design that refuses to look right.”
Ruby
on Rails for the rest of us by Justin Williams
“You’ve probably heard of Ruby on Rails, which
has been generating noise in the web development field over the past year.
While buzz and hype are nothing new to our industry, it’s always
beneficial to cut through that hype and the jargon to understand what
a new technology really is about.”
In the future every URLs will be popular for 1.5 seconds says Thomas

Make Pretty Pie Charts by Stuart Brown

She's back! Have you heard of Experiential
Prototyping?

Created by Jennifer Darmour
as a MFA thesis in Media Design “consists of a collection of projects
that explore new ways of using interaction and physical computing to invent
and prototype the experiences of new interactive technology-driven products
and services.
The final project is an innovative personal mobile music device that
uses gesture-based movements to mix, share, customize, and sync music.
The experience of using the device and all the components that it interacts
with (such as a web and cell phone application) was built into an interactive
touchscreen that animated user-based stories that directly interacted
with the device so you can watch how the characters use it and experience
it for yourself.”

YEAN which
stands for Young European Architects Network is a fluid site that will
adapt to any size browser windows. Designed with vertical panels it has
an ingenious pull functionality
which enables you to slide open (expand) or close content sections.
With an unusual middle plane and vertical navigation, content will either
open on the right or left side, which may be confusing but on the other
hand, since their mission is to encourage study and research,
it makes sense to have a more exploratory interface process.
Years ago, I've used frames to make what would be then defined
seamless design. Through the years, it has garnered harsh critics but
yet, in some contexts, they are still the best route to take.

On this website, user interactivity was made intense and fun. Visiting
any of the sections that will reveal bold pictures and graphics elements,
make it an intriguing but true visual adventure.
In my view, goal met.

SOS - Save Our Selves by Bruno Giussani
“Along the social absorption route, there is always a point where
complex issues and inconvenient messages percolate into the pop-culture
sphere and start being considered self-evident, possibly triggering changes
in behavior and other individual or collective responses.
For the climate crisis that point may be nearing. It may even have a
precise date: this year's 7th of July (7/7/7)..”

“A lot of folks whom I talk to speak wistfully about what they
would do if they were in charge. I've got news for them: If they're

business are entirely justified.
Why? Because there aren't nearly enough torchbearers
