For people who make websites:
The Bathing Ape
Has No Clothes (and other notes on the distinction between style and
design) by Adam Greenfield from V-2.org

brought to you by the good folks at ALA!

Peace
of heart and prosperity to you all!
My wish list for this special time of the year is that for all of us -
who work, dream and make it happen in our industry, be rewarded upon its
efforts. A castle is built one stone at a time!
Though hardship has been the key word it seems for so many
- hang in there - good tidings are yet to come!
Design Not Found (by 37 signals)
exposes the flaws and usability problems common among web sites.

Inside
Moccu? Shift
latest edition have an interview with them. Get ready for a once in a
lifetime experience. Get raptured from onset with striking visual flash
storyboard with illustrated navigation and graphic elements that are
interactive down to the smallest item. In the about us page - mouseover
the little fish for example. Incredible coding wrapped in a juicy fruity
eye candy!
The 3 exploration areas are sheer delights and don't miss building your
graphic living form. Mine is due to hatch in 4 days and some minutes
away.
Overall a genial podium for this interactive agency who
rightly so deserves the awards they've received so far.

Are
you there God? (It's me HAL) by Sari Kalin
A futuristic outlook on the impact of technology on us: Techies and theologians
are talking about the spiritual implications of the Web, robots and virtual
realityand they think business leaders should too.
Nathan's

About
time - about fridgin time that somebody talks about *designer* vs *stylist*
with richly filled comments and references, all in a comprehensive way.
This is not another whining siren that throws you off but a, hello out there
- get real article!
The reason I quit traditional media was due mainly to the *popcorn recipe*.
Clients projects were roughly delivered like this: take a kernel, heat a
pan, pour a little oil, cover 5 min and VOILÀ: popcorn! (ie instant
consummation and no perennity projects aka vaporware!)
Care to know my recipe? Take a kernel, put in soil, out in
the sun, water when needed, weed out, and with a lot of patience later VOILÀ:
a corn stalk! (100 more kernels to grow!) <cg>
Fresh
off the press and available in bookstores since Dec 1: Macromedia Flash:
Art, Design + Function! Foreword by Mike Schmidt (k10k).
The book is a detailed case study which deconstructs the Mighty
Assembly
site and offers readers a rare opportunity to observe and analyze how concepts
are executed by pushing the limits of Flash.

Read some more about the book.

There was a spam thread (in view of porn sites) on WD
(webdesign-list) - Steve Champion wrote this article
about it and how to improve Apache servers.
/
Xperimentz amazing interface.

eNormously
eFficient! eNourmously true! eNourmously funny! eNourmously
smart! eNourmously needed!eNourmously efficient! eNormicom!
Segura (if you don't
know who Carlos Segura is, read a recent interview from PixelSurgeon)
and 37signals just proved that
minimalism is not a disease to avoid at all costs and being smart - one
that can be caught!
As per their own saying "eNormicom is a satirical site" and
you better have a rock solid ego to swallow the pitch.
eNormicom is NOT an eye-candy-pretty-site but the graphics are so generic
that hardly anyone can be offended BUT the non-creative attitudes described
are a killer!
When was the last time you were compelled to read 18 pages
online... on the same site??? Paramount communication design project!
